Yellow Brick Road

By Phil Young Copyright 2008 Sovereign Books Limited

I love the way

That gat man plays

With his guitar strings

And the way the lead singer sings

Like the lead singer in Led Zeppelin

Taking me away to the stairway

To heaven

And I love the way the bass player

Twangs his fingers upon the strings

In time with the drummer man

And all in harmony

And today in the world of hard rock

We¡¯ve got the Red Hot - Chillis

Like Elvis in the 1950¡¯s

And the Beatles

And the Rolling Stones

And Elton John

Saying Goodbye Yellow Brick Road

And when you go to the show

It¡¯s like you¡¯ve got

A long way to go

But then suddenly it¡¯s all over

And there¡¯s nobody there

To sing the song

But in the end

If you are Vera Lynn

Supporting World War One

Or Jimmy Morrison

Fighting the war in Vietnam

Everybody is doing the same thing

And Dorothy also

Went over the rainbow

Along with Tin Man

Lion and scare crow

Down their Yellow Brick road

But you were last seen singing

Your life long anthem or hymn

Lost in your rock ¡®n roll

And lost in your lost soul

Up upon your Yellow Brick road
